Vienna Ensemble pro and Notion

Postby davidmesiha » Wed Feb 22, 2012 7:25 pm

Hey guys,

this post is to address 2 things

1) How many instances of Vienna Ensemble pro Can we actually Run with Notion
2) Templates to properly pan and position instruments in an orchestral template for Vienna Ensemble Pro

First I'd lik to thank Tobias Escher for his fantastic tutorial on setting up a template with Logic Audio pro and even using slave computers to spread the load. here is a link for his work

http://www.novatlan-sound.de/blog_files ... semble.php

While this is very helpful, I'm still struggling with a few things.

Notion provides a template for using 4 instances of VEPro for a large orchestral template, however, whenever I have loaded this, Notion becomes completely unusable, too sluggish. Any of you have the same issue, or is this just me? any pointers to fix this?

Secondly, although the templates do load up, there are no panning presets, so do any of you have pointers or are willing to share a basic orchestral template that shows the proper panning of instruments in Vienna Ensemble? even a screenshot would be immensely useful.

I'm happy to share whatever I manage to put together, but I'm particularly confused about how wide to make each instrument when I'm panning them. So although I have a decent idea of where they should be in the stereo image, I'm not certain about the width of the image for each instrument.

Any help would be amazingly appreciated.

sincerely

David M.

It's the instruments loaded into VE Pro that the determines how many you can load. I trust you're loading the x64 VE Pro server before launching Notion?

yeah I am and also trying to use one the templates provided by notion, which is the 4XVEPro
that is 4X16 = 64 instruments.
But also, when VEPro loads, it puts the instruments on the tracks, but doesn't seem to load the actual samples. However, notion becomes completely unusable.
could it be that I need to leave it for quite a while to load up all the samples first? have you had success loading up this template and have it work ? what kind of computer specs do you have?

I have also loaded close to that many instruments while using VSL with logic and was able to work just fine !!

thanks

I don't have the VSL Special Addition, so haven't tried the template...
