Grandstaff problem

Postby Raymond Robijns » Thu Mar 18, 2010 8:32 am

Not really a problem, it is more cosmetic. Sometimes a sequence of -let us say - chromatic scale starts at the far end for the left hand and continues at about the middle C with the right hand [and mostly within some multiplet]. Look at scores of Liszt and Chopin. No rests are put anywhere within that bar/measure.

I tried to do that also, starting with the left hand to continue with the right hand in a multiplet environment, but I can't do that (in fact it has nothing to do with the multiplet property). The only thing I can do is breaking it up. And that is not so cosmetic as I want.

It sounds like you are basically referring to cross staff beaming; this has been discussed in earlier threads and, according to those threads, a fix is on Notion's "to do" list.

I didn't know it was called cross staff beaming until I posted a similar question on the forum, and English is my first language.
