Pizz-expression on 3rd party VSTis?

Postby posssu » Thu Jan 14, 2010 10:08 pm

How to make pizz., arco and all the other expressions work on 3rd party VSTis? I know how to change instrument/channel, but I was wondering if it was possible to program these changes to the common expressions so there wouldn't be need to program every time I use them?

Hi possu,

Use the bundled VST presets. They are pre-programmed to do this. You need to own one of the supported libraries: VSL Special Edition, IK Miroslav, GPO (Aria) or EastWest Symphonic Orchestra (Gold or Platinum).

Hi!

That's the thing, I meant mainly [unsupported] 3rd party libraries, like LASS etc. But maybe this is possible in the future then!

If these libraries use keyswitches, you can just enter the keyswitch notes on an extra staff and link it to the instrument.
Looks shitty, but works :)

Hi Novatlan.
Can you add a snapshot for this technique? It will help a lot to understand how to do it in practice.
I'm not use to keyswitches and I'm trying to manage those of a basic Yellowsound library in the C0-E0 range, so can't figure out how to make it work.
Thank you

Well, a keyswitch is just a note.
In this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEdAmh318Co Lubo explains how to setup a second staff for an instrument. Instead of entering Modwheel data you just enter the keyswitch note.
Just remember to enter the keyswitch slightly before the first note that should use the new articulation to make sure it actually sounds :)
