I'm currently using Vienna Instruments with Notion 4, and considering purchasing VI Pro. Does anyone have experience using Pro with Notion 4? What are the advantages? Am I going to be blown away, or just say "meh"?
Always love to hear from the gang here!

Re: VI vs VI PRO
Hi Michael,
I love VI Pro. The VSL website has extensive videos explain the various features, which are very informative. For me, the Humanize functions are worth the price of admission.

Re: VI vs VI PRO
Hi Michael,
Vienna Instruments is very introductory in comparison to VI Pro. Of course, it depends on what you want VI Pro to do for you and how much time you are willing to spend learning everything that it is capable of doing. Even better is when you get VE Pro working with VI Pro.
You will say more than 'meh'.

So I am still confused about using VI (or VI Pro for that matter) with VE or VE Pro. I currently use the presets that are wired in Notion 4 to select instruments directly for each staff. Am I missing something by not using VE to play the instruments? This has confused me since the beginning. Can you clarify this for me?

Re: VI vs VI PRO
Probably no reason to use VE if you're running Notion as a 64bit application.
With VE Pro, there are many reasons, such as: more efficient use of your multi core CPU; more sophisticated mixing options; the ability to keep all samples loaded when switching from piece to piece; and of course, the ability to host samples on other computers over a network.

Thanks Bill. I understand all those options, but maybe at a superficial level. It doesn't seem that in my case I really need any of them, except with the possible exception of mixing options. Could you expand a bit on those?
