Notion and Vienna Ensemble Pro 5

Postby idiotSavant » Fri Apr 05, 2013 7:27 pm

I decided to try downloading VSL's demos of VE Pro 5 and MIR. Seems pretty interesting from what I've gotten to work as a standalone, but now I'm trying to launch it using Notion.

HELP!!!

It seems that when I add a VE Pro staff, the only option I get is for a networked condition. I don't want to network, but just use it with my one and only machine.

Is there a way to change this?

Start the VEP server on your local system before you open Notion.

You can also start it after starting Notion. I sometimes forget to start the service as well so here are the instructions on how to load Vienna Ensemble after you have started Notion.

1. Start the Vienna Ensemble Pro Server (32 or 64-bit).
2. Load a VE Pro Instance into your score. (If you already have one loaded into the score, you can skiop this step.)
3. Use the mouse to place the playhead cursor on your VE Pro instance staff, or on a staff that has a VE Pro instrument channel loaded onto it.
4. Press Command + I (CTRL + I for PC)
5. This will bring up the VE Pro Server Connection Interface.

6. Select the Instance in the Server that you would like to use. (If you are on one machine and not using a Server, it will say "localhost".)

7. Click "Connect".

This will bring up a new version of VE Pro in your score, or if you have previously saved the Notion score, it will bring up the instance that is associated with that particular score.

Once again, these are the steps to open a Vienna Ensemble Pro instance after you have already started your Notion Score without starting the Vienna Ensemble Pro Server first. It comes in handy if you load the Score first and you do not want to start the loading process over.
