I've just started using this library but am getting disappointed a lot by things not being quite right.
I altered a couple of works in progress by changing from Notion instruments to EWQLSO instruments and immediately noticed things which played back fine before now playing back incorrectly. For example, in the cello part of a string quartet I have some tied whole notes which should sound over 4 bars and it only sounds for 2 bars. I checked the length of the sound involved against playing the sample on a keyboard and it plays back the full length of the sample but that length is insufficient because it's being used in a slow passage. Changing the staff back to a Notion sound restores the correct playback as does employing a GPO sound. This is extremely annoying as the EWQLSO cello is the best I now own but I can't use it like this.
Does an experienced EWQLSO user know if there are errors within the rules?

Re: EWQLSO Gold Quirks
The EW Solo Strings aren't looped. You'll need to break the tie somewhere to simulate a bow change. After all, a real cello player wouldn't be able to hold a not that long.

Aah, so it's just down to looping. Thanks, Bill. I think I expected something within the way the samples were called to simulate a looped sound but it presumably doesn't or can't do that.
I have to disagree with you though about what you said regarding a real player. A good player can hold the notes I require easily. I know I could myself if I owned a cello. I've played very long notes before on the whole string family.

You might experiment with different sustained patches. Some hold the notes much longer than others, and you could substitute those in Play. The change would be saved with your score.

Re: EWQLSO Gold Quirks
Thanks again, Bill. I will. I haven't yet figured out the relationship between the VSTi and Notion.
I presume, from what you say, that although a configuration of samples is loaded into Play as a particular instrument, one can freely alter samples that are used and effectively make a custom instrument? Is this something you've done and, if so, do you have any with which you're particularly pleased?

Yes, that's exactly correct. You can modify within a particular score, or you can modify the instrument "template" used in all future scores.
I haven't done it with EWQLSO, but do with VSL, where I substitute full instrument patches in place of the Special Edition patches.
