1/2 Step Tuning

Postby dgrm44 » Tue Dec 29, 2009 10:51 pm

I just purchased Notion and am excited to start using it.
I am creating a guitar tab using Notion 3. I want the playback of the guitar to sound 1/2 step lower than written in the tab. How do I accomplish this?

Thanks!

I don't have a good answer for you, but a "capo" feature that extends the transposition feature would be a great addition.

Hi dgrm44,

This should be explained in your manual. Enter the Staff Settings of your guitar staff, choose the Notation tab and then specify the tuning you want.

Hope that helps.

Am I looking in the right place??? I seen the transposition section, but it doesn't give me a half step option. I can basically have C sound as C, D, Eb, F, G, A, Bb, and B. It seems to be missing Db, E, F#, and G#.

I suppose because there aren't any instruments in Gb? I think you want your guitar to be in Bb because it is a semitone lower than C.

Well, that wouldn't work because Bb is a whole step (or two semitones) below C. Again, I think either a capo function or a complete set of transposition keys would be best.

Ah silly me. I meant to say B (natural).

I feel like such an idiot knowing I said Bb was one semitone below C
