pp to not affect payback

Postby G-Sun » Thu Oct 17, 2013 8:53 am

Hi!

Is there an option to not have dynamics markings affect playback?

I'm doing a SATB-arr and do not want to put put markings on each staff,
and I'd like to set velocity manually.

Ok, sorry.

When I insert dynamics-markings into the score,
Notion automatically adjust velocity after that sign accordingly, right?

So, is there a setting to disable that, so my dynamics markings are only for visual?

you can double click on the dynamic and tweak the played dynamic by adding a "+" and the number of dynamic levels you with to move it up.

You can adjust the velocity by switching into Sequencer Overlay mode. Press the Tab key and you will see gray lines that relate to the Velocity and Duration of entered notes. You can use the Velocity Overdub function in Notion to record the velocities into the score from your MIDI keyboard. That is this button:

Velocity Overdub.png (6.9 KiB) Viewed 10275 times

Once you press this button, begin to play the rhythms of the notes that are entered. Each key strike will represent a velocity that will be recorded into the score.

You can also set these manually, or edit the velocities that you have recorded, by selecting the notes that you want to effect, and then using Option(Alt PC) + Up/Down Arrow keys to adjust the velocities by increments of ten, or by pressing Shift + Option (Alt PC) + Up/Down Arrow keys to adjust by incrememts of 1.

You will also notice that the colors of the gray bars will change in relation to the set velocities.

Thank you.
Looks a little messy, but it sure helps.

Can I
- enter one note velocity for all selected notes?

What velocity is grey? 100?

And what are the level-steps for eg. p to pp ?

What samples library are you using for SATB? You might be able to create a very simple rule set to take care of all this.

Ok, thanks! I don't know anything about rule-sets.

I'm using Kontakt5 and SATB.

When altering velocity on notes, does that override the dynamics-velocities?
And, what is default dynamics/velocity? mp? mf?

Kontakt is the player; which library is the SATB?
