Has anyone found a way to make correct tuplets in compound meter?
I am working on a piece in 9/8, and there is a septuplet in one of the measures: 7 sixteenths in the time of a dotted quarter. I've tried to enter it in different ways, but I haven't found a way to make it "7 against 6" and not "7 against 4." Can anyone help, or is this a feature request in the making?
Best wishes,
Thorrild

Re: Tuplet question
Works for me (I think - I'm not used to the American system of note lengths)
Press s and then click the "custom tuplet" button. Tell it to fit 7 in 6 and then start entering notes

Thanks a lot, wglmb! I've worked with Notion almost a year now and never knew about this feature. It's cumbersome, but at least it works.

Does anyone know if there is a keyboard shortcut for the tuplet option?

Pcartwright,
I haven't found one, but the contextual menu helps a little bit. (I am on a Mac, so if you're not, please make the appropriate substitutions.) I highlight a group of notes, hold down the control key and select Tuplets>Custom Tuplet. It's not as slick as a keyboard shortcut, but it certainly beats going to the palette every time.

Re: Tuplet question
thorrild,
Also....
Easiest way is simply enter 7 sixteenth not and 2 dotted quarter note or what ever...
Of course you get a red note meaning that there is to much entry in a bar...
Does not matter...
Just select those 7 sixteenth note and Right Click - Tuplets / Make tuplet...
...That's it !
Easy and it works most of the time...
Hope to help
Alain
