Can't Update

Postby snorlax » Mon Mar 01, 2010 12:00 am

Hi...

N3 .241 on Win 7 32-bit

It doesn't seem to auto-search for updates and when I go to HELP>CHECK FOR UPDATES it gives the error message "An error occurred trying to contact the server (259)"

Any insight?

Thanks...Jim W.

This problem only appears on my Win 7 installation. The XP Pro SP3 installation is fine.
Both installations are 100% legal.

Any Win 7 users getting this?

It would be helpful if I knew what the error meant besides the obvious "can't contact the server"
Can anyone discover the meaning of 259?

I had problems updating from the automatic update on Windows 7. However by downloading direct from the website it worked Ok. (Did take a long time to download though.)

Right you are, of course, on all counts, but this feature ought to work...If I had a clue what error 259 was I might be able to determine if this is a Notion issue or a Jim's Computer issue, and if it is indeed the latter, how to fix Jim's (and maybe Newtonia's :D ) issue with this!!

Write support... you'll probably get a faster answer there. I had some error with the auto-update when the servers were down for few days something like 1-2 weeks ago, but that's not the case anymore.

Have you manually downloaded the latest version? Maybe this is fixed there?
