In response to Saintdufus' inquiry to my previous post, here's a new version of this piece. This is after about two months or so of work with my large VE string orchestra ensemble. There are 8 Vln I, 8 Vln II, 6 Vla, 6 Vc, and a Bass section here, all with individual samples using different instruments and playing styles, and set to different levels of tuning and humanization (delay and initial and follow on tuning of each note).
Enjoy, and let me know what you think!

Another beautiful rendering, Savant: my compliments.
I do detect a difference between this version and the previous version. What did you do differently?
Please feel free to go into as much detail as you like. I'm eager to learn from the experiences of my fellow composers.
P.S. Vivaldi's Quattro stagioni on your SoundCloud page sounds amazing...did you do that with VSL Dimension Strings as well?

Re: Elgar Elegy Op. 58 Re-recorded and Remastered
Saintdufus: This recording was remastered with the same instruments, but I spent a lot more time working on spatialization of the mix. and getting the balances right. Also, I adjusted the attack and decay times of the strings to get more of a slow, continuous string sound. After comparing my recording to some reference recordings (a technique I highly recommend), I also used different eq settings to deepen the sound in the low end and try to warm it up. VSL strings tend to sound pretty cold, in my opinion. I also changed tempos and adjusted timings for more dramatic effect.
I haven't posted Vivaldi's Four Seasons. I started working on one of the pieces but shelved that project a while ago. You might be thinking that my recording of Respighi's Ancient Airs and Dances is the Four Seasons?

This was the Vivaldi piece I meant:
https://soundcloud.com/philippe-baylac/ ... o-stagioni
I thought it was yours because it started playing automatically as I was listening to your compositions.

That's Phillipe's. He's very good. He's been doing some amazing work with Vocals lately.
My SoundCloud will do that as well, it will jump to a recommended piece.
