As a learning exercise, I decided to see if I could transcribe, by ear, the closing credits music from the film *What Lies Beneath*.
It was a highly instructive and rewarding experience, albeit a very challenging one. My respect for Alan Silvestri's creation is immense--I aspire to compose something like this one day. I feel this exercise is a step along that path, as I've learned so much from it.
Has anyone here ever tried doing something like this (i.e. transcribing a composition by ear)? I would be interested to hear your experiences, and listen to your files.
Please let me know what you think of my (re)creation.
