Problem with Lyrics

Postby Djam2014 » Tue Dec 17, 2013 8:54 am

Does anyone else have a problem entering lyrics. Sometimes the space bar works some times it doesn't. Also when entering multiple verse lyrics the documentation says:
1. Ensure you are in Edit mode.
2. To specify a verse, press the letter L then press the verse number (1 to 9).
3. Position the music Curser where the lyrics start and click your mouse or press Enter
4. start typing.

Problem is after a while the verses start overlapping each other and acting strange.

Dear Djam,

I need more information and if you could, please post an example whether a picture or a score where this is happening. I need to know what operating system you are using and also what version of Notion you are using.

I cannot reproduce the problem here in the office. After working with this for a bit, I realized that you definitely have to use the numbers on the ASCII keyboard that are above the letters and not the numeric keypad. For verse 1, there is no visual display in the Lyrics tool. For other numbered verses, the Lyrics tool does display the verse that you are going to be working with. I cannot see an overlap with a simple test, so I think something else may be going on here. Is it possible that you are working either on a grand staff or that you have set the Voice of entry to be in some voice other than Voice 1?

You can check the voice entry mode in the palette, or you can quickly set the voice back to voice one by pressing
"Command [CTRL-PC] + 1".

These are just some possibilities because if you are writing Lyrics in Voices to match with Voices that you have written music for, I can see how it could be possible that there could be some issue with Lyrics jumping around.

(When I am talking about voices, I am speaking of the Voice mode for note entry, not a Vocal staff.)

Hello Djam, hello Admin,

I had this problem already in V3 and still have it in V4.
It looks as if long lyrics consisting of more than one verse line tend to wander away vertically. Whenever I type a syllable and press <Tab> the line is repositioned a little more down until the line is invisible.
A workaround for me is going into score setup. After leaving the setup the lyrics seem to be displayed correctly again.

btw: I think, more than a year ago I already filed in an error report with a screenshot but never got an answer...

Greetings,

I have the same issue:
When entering multiple lines of lyrics in continuous view (scroll across), the lyric lines shift down each time a word is entered. Changing the view to one of the page views corrects this. When you go back to continuous view everything is fine. An annoying bug.

Perhaps this is an issue when you are in 'continuous' view only ( as opposed to page view) ?

Hi John,
indeed I am always using continuous view.
Best wishes,
klushund.

Yes. This is an issue with continuous view. I will submit a newer ticket detailing the matter. It has been around for quite some time now and someone needs to revisit this issue.
