Hi,
Using VSL Appassionata Violins. Sliding from note to a lower note works but from one note to a higher one I cannot hear the sliding.
Am I doing something wrong?
Kind regards,
Frieda

Hi Frieda,
Since Notion doesn't have native support for AS, I'm wondering just how you're going about it.

Hi Bill,
I did not quite understand your question.
I was entering a page of a symphony of Mahler. I want to learn what I can do with Notion to let it sound as real. Unfortunately the portamento only works upwards.
Are you using the Appassionata Strings too? What kind of music you make?

Oh, you're probably using the AS that comes as part of the SE package now? Sorry, that would be suported in Notion. I had the full AS collection in mind, and forgot it was now included in SE.
I don't have SE, so can't really comment...

Re: Cannot hear Portamento upwards?
OK, so...
When you select Appassionata Strings through the score setup pallets, that's for the Special Edition version of AS, which is a subset of the full package that you have.
If you bring up the VI player (Ctrl-I) do you see cells in the matrices that are red? That means that the SE preset that comes with Notion probably uses a different name/location for the patch. You can perhaps manually load the patch from your full Standard addition, going by the name of what's missing.
Hope that makes sense!

Re: Cannot hear Portamento upwards?
Hi Bill,
I did made a template already of it where all sounds of VSL are loaded, included Portamento. I can see when I have a portamento downwards Notion selects the Portamento articulation correct but when I have a portamento upwards it does not select a portamento articulation but stays with a sustain sample.
Does portamento upwards work by you? Do you have standard edition of AS strings or extended too?

Re: Cannot hear Portamento upwards?
No, I don't have Appassionata Violins, just Solo Strings.
You might contact Brian at tech suport, as this might be a glitch in the rules file that interprets the articulations.
