Juliet and Romeo

Hi all,

my wife made a theatrical adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, calling it Juliet and Romeo, where the story starts with the death of Romeo and Juliet, then like in a court process, the survivors tell their memories, from the beginning of Juliet and Romeo first encounter, to the famous balcony scene (that ends the play).

I wrote the music I share here. I used NOTION and NOTION sounds, Vienna Ensemble, MIR Pro and Logic for the final mix.

Hi Claudio.

Since Dropbox doesn't allows me to listen to your "Juliet and Romeo” unless I download it
(do they changed the way it works? I'm not visiting mine from months), I can express my opinion
in an extremely… fragmentary way.

It sounds as being a well crafted work; you know how to translate feelings from behind the stage curtains
into music that makes sense (I'm listening to your Pirandello at the moment).

Claudio, very impressive! Very well crafted. Beautiful depth and breadth to the soundstage. Extremely professional mixing and mastering. Did you do all the work yourself?

May I ask what venue you used in MIR Pro?

Hi Michael,

thank you for your words. Yes I did all myself.
The MIR Pro venue I've used is "Berlin TeldexStudio Aufnahmesaal v2 wide". The attached VIFRAME file is the configuration I've used. It is not yet as good as I would like, but near to it. Please enjoy it.

Congratulation Claudio!
Dark sad atmosphere...love especialy your Chorus IV and final Dream... very good choice of waterphone to create dissonance and tension...

You have sometime a dense number of instruments that might play too much in perfect unison: have you tried to add some randomness (Control+A, then right click and Tools/randomnize events) on all note beginings and note endings ? Between 3 and 5 % (maximum) would help all your desk and instruments to breath and sound fuller... :D

Hy Yves,

Thank you for both your words and your suggestion: I've never tried randomisation (I forgot its existence).
I agree with you that it should help (mainly in first piece first notes and at the end of the last piece). I will surely try it!
