I read through 13 pages in the forum and played with the tools. I still haven't figured out how to perform 2 tsks:

1) I have five eight notes tied together. I want the first one separated from the other four

2) finger style guitar: two notes played together. String 1 should be an eighth note and string 6 should be a half note. I can't keep them from having the same duration.

Right now, you can't change the beaming of eighth notes, sorry. (If you have the desktop version, you can do it there. If you import that into the ipad version, it will retain the beaming.)

You would use layers to put notes of different durations on the same beat.
