Change of note duration

Is there any way I can change the duration of a note, or insert a note between two adjacent notes?
I.e. I would love to be able to change a quarter note to the first of an eighth triplet note, then enter the next two triplet eights to the right of this first note.
For now, I need to delete the contents of the bar in question and reenter the whole bar...
Also, as e feature request, I would love to have the standard Tenor Clef (treble clef with the 8 below).
When transposing the whole tenor part one octave down solves the problem, but leads to unexpected results, when changing clef to bass clef, in the middle of the score in order to write for low 2nd tenors.
