Multiple parts in same staff?

Multiple parts in same staff?

Postby dvotaw » Sat Jul 14, 2012 8:00 pm

I write for my choral group and I'd like to be able to combine two parts (like soprano and alto) on the same staff. This works well as long as the two parts have notes of the same duration. But I can't figure out how to have the sopranos sing a quarter note while the altos sing two eighth notes at the same time, on the same staff. Anybody know how to enter that into the score?

Hi dvotaw,

Enter the music in 2 layers: Sopranos in Layer 1, altos in Layer 2. Enclosed is a Notion file with a snippet of a standard Christmas carol entered this way.

When you tap the quarter-note icon to get the durations palette, you'll see that the palette contains a voice 1 button (up stem-note highlighted) and a voice 2 button (down-stem note highlighted).

Best wishes,
Thorrild
