Preventing keyboard shift

Is there a way, when using the keyboard to enter notes, to prevent it from re-centering itself on middle-C each time a note is entered? It is very annoying. A little padlock would be nice. Thanks!

I haven't found a way to avoid this behavior. Maybe the lack of suggestions following your original post is a sign that there is no workaround.
