hey, Ulrik! Do you think the channels (techniques) could use some improvement in this matter, or it's just a personal preference you are talking about?

In my Miroslav instruments, all channels are centered and I don't see a pan difference between the instrument techniques. Since the pan control is so sweet in notion, I'd rather use the notion mixer to distribute the instruments across the stereo, and all the techniques of each instrument will come from the same place.

But If it's something that could be improved, I would like to know a little more about this, so the preset can be fine tuned for later revisions of the rules.

This issue is something I had with the panning in Miro because I just made a quick test of the technics and used only the stereo output from Miro, so it has nothing to do with the rules or with Notion.
You're rules and presets work just fine, but as I said before, I have not had the time to try all settings out yet.

Exactly how do you "attach" one of the techniques to the note ? I can do a sequencer overlay to adjus the note lengths as you instruct but I don't know how to attach the "slide" or "gliss. slow" etc. as you show.
And BTW the bass clarinet now sounds terrific ! I love that instrument. And your improvement installed fine and appears to be working.

Hi Bob!

You have to use the "express entry mode", a series of keyboard sequences that start with the apostrophe (')
They are actually logical, you just type apostrophe and start typing in for most techniques, but there are 'official' shortcuts

'slid = slide
'glu or 'glissup = gliss. up
'gluw or 'glissups or 'glus etc -= gliss. up slow

'gld or 'gd = gliss. down
'gluw = gliss. down slow

(By these rules, it doesn't matter if you use gliss/ gliss slow up or down. You can put a gliss. down marking on a glissando up note and will work just the same)

* take a look on user guide page 6.14 - express entry is very useful.

Hi Emilio, Bob again,
Sorry to report I cannot seem to get glissando to work. I copied first part of your demo exactly- the half notes from a to c, inlcuding the slide marking and the gliss.up slow The two notes just play regularly, e.g. no glissando.
Surely it must be pilot error but I cannot think of anything I'm doing wrong. Your file must have installed correctly as the bass clarinet plays fine.
Any hints ?

Bob

do you mind sending me or attaching the .notion file so I can take a look?

In the meantime, open this file in Notion to see if it works.

Hi again Emilio, thanks for the 'tech support'.
Unfortunately your file didn't produce glissandos either but behaved like mine:

First A -> C Notes play; no gliss
D->A First D is silent; no gliss
A->C->A->C First A is silent; no gliss
C->A->C->A All notes and tremolos play; no gliss

I'll send my file as soon as I figure out how to make an attachmnent in a moment.

Emilio,

Sorry, I have not found any way to attach my .notion file. I have written the administrator and am guessing I need some sort of authorization to upload (unless I am overlooking something you might point out). I will send as soon as I hear back. Fact that your file behaved the same way though makes we wonder if my file would help any. Haven't had time to fill out my profile, but FWIW my Notion SLE for Miroslav seems to work fine for everything, and I'm running on a T41 Thinkpad, 2GB, Win XP Pro w/ Service Pack 3.

Ciao,

Bob

Emilio, I figured a work around to being unable to upload in this Rules forum. Look in the Share NOTION Files forum where I posted my glissando test file per your request. Can't wait to hear what idiot thing I'm overlooking.
Remember I'm a newbie so don't be too hard on me... :lol:

I opened your file and it was correctly written, but the Miroslav interface for the staff was empty - no channels being used.

Did you replace the instrument presets file and the rules folders in the PLK folder, following the instructions in the first post?

Are you on a mac? I am not sure of what is the problem, but I'm starting to think it's some incompatibility between mac and pc versions. Unfortunately I don't have a mac to try. We'll eventually figure it all, with a little help of our friends...
