Am I right to assume that the SLE version doesn't support external midi and custom .prules file in the Rules directory? Because that's all I'd use of Notion, I wouldn't mind if I didn't have to get the included sounds and reverb.
edit: Hmm, I see it has external midi support, does it have the same articulations (even for guitars), .prules capabilities and expressionlist.tpk as notion3?

Yes, it's only working for the library it was designed for and the MIDI-out is actually hard-coded to be sending the keyswitches for the presets of that library. You need this so that for example NOTION SLE for VSL SE would still work with MIR (which currently needs MIDI).
So unless you only plan to use it for the library it is intended for, you should get NOTION3.
