There are two methods for transferring Finale or Sibelius files to NOTION3 – via MIDI and via MusicXML.
The preferred method is to always use MusicXML, since MIDI files do not contain score articulations and score markings information.
Using MusicXML:
Finale - MusicXML:
1. In Finale, open your file and go to File-MusicXML-Export and export your score
2. Start NOTION and click Import on the launch screen or go to File-Import and select the .xml file you just exported from Finale
Sibelius – MusicXML (note Sibelius does not come with XML export. You need Recordare’s Dolet plug-in to export MusicXML files from Sibelius):
1. In Sibelius, open the file and go to the Plugins menu. Find the MusicXML plug-in and choose Export MusicXML. Save the file to a location of your choice
2. Start NOTION and click Import on the launch screen or go to File-Import and select the .xml file you just exported from Sibelius
Using MIDI Export:
1. In Sibelius or Finale, export your score to a MIDI file using the File Export feature.
2. Start NOTION and choose Import at the launch screen or go to File-Import
3. Choose the MIDI file you just exported and click OK
4. Your MIDI file imports in Sequencer Staffs by default. To convert it to notation, go to Edit-Select All and then go to Tools – Convert to Notation
