hi,

i'm currently working in sibelius 5 and just bought notation 3.

can anyone tell me if notation 3 is a good choice for contemporary music notation. i mean "ad libitum" notation, signs and symbols (eg. george crumb notations) etc.

thnx in advance

By using the sequencer staff, vsts and the like you can certainly get some scores "sounding" like a George Crumb piece. Unfortunately as far as notation goes NOTION isn't going to offer you the ability to get "ad libitum" notation.

Check out some of Gil Fray's pieces on his MySpace page for some really nice modern stuff utilizing NOTION's sound library to extremes:) http://www.myspace.com/gilfray

Sitting next to George Crumb at the recording of Madrigals, and looking at his notation is what sent me off in the direction of composition!
