Playing technique markings

What am I doing wrong?
In trying to find out which of the available markings for Drum Set are played back and not just words on the screen, I follow the instructions on page 12.8 and 12.9 of the User Guide:
Typing apostrophe ('), then "fla" should get me the word "flam," but instead I get "flautando" — not terribly useful for a drummer. Likewise, typing apostrophe, then "cro" should yield "cross stick" but it produces "cross-string" instead. There may be more problems, but I haven't tested the entire list yet. I'll add to this if I find more. Unless, of course, the problem is with me and not with Notion.
By the way, is there any way to find out which of these techniques play back without going through this laborious testing? The question applies to other instruments as well: I was quite surprised to find that there are provisions for notating fingered tremolos between two notes or chords, but that they don't play back, (p. 10.23).
