Key switches?

Hi!

I just downloaded the Notion3 demo, and I must say it's awesome!
Real easy to use and easy to look at as well!

But I have a question... I have Kontakt and various Guitar and Bass Libraries, and they all have keyswitches for things like Palm Mutes, mutes, harmonics, etc... is there anyway I can assign these 'key switches' to the articulations in Notion3?

So that when I use a 'palm mute' in the staff, it will play back as if I'm using that 'palm mute' key switch?

I watched a YouTube video on how to make your own presets and stuff, but it didn't answer my question, although it was very informative!

Thanks! ;)

Currently it's not possible to create custom articulations to send keyswitches, but at least one way to achieve this is to create a Sequencer staff below the staff you want to send articulations to. Then hit SHIFT+I to insert an instrument change, click "Show all instruments" and choose the instrument on the notation staff above. Then insert this symbol on the Sequencer Staff (it will default to the instrument name you choose, I think).

Now you have a sequencer staff that will send its output to the notation staff. You can record CC data on this track (like modwheel) and enter any note values as well. So enter all the keyswitches as actual notes on this staff and just type them as normal text on the notation staff (it's just for clarity or for the real musicians, but not necessary).

I know this isn't as handy as you'd hope for, but it works and the developers have written on the forum that they have a high priority in better midi programming possibilities in Notion. So I'm sure it'll be possible to do on one notation staff eventually through custom articulations you're asking for and lots of other stuff... but until then, this is one way to achieve what you want.

Okay great, atleast I know that they're working on it!
It would be alwesome to be able to do this.

Unfortunatly, I don't use a midi keyboard, I kinda just start clicking away 'til I get something I like.

But atleast you can input notes as well, so that's cool too!

I certainly hope this feature gets added soon! :)

Me too. :) Also, you don't have to have a midi keyboard to be able to input notes to Sequencer staff. The thing with having it is that you can have they keyswitch-notes play without having to write them on the actual notation.
