Step record vs Realtime record issue

Postby LanceJ » Thu Feb 25, 2010 10:36 pm

Step Record: Play chord that has note below middle C and right hand notes above middle C, all notes are placed in treble clef.

Realtime Record: Play the same chord and the chord is properly split across bass and treble clefs.

Is this a bug (PC wording: feature not yet implemented ;) ) or am I making a mistake somewhere?

I would like to drag the bass note and drop it onto the bass clef (detach from chord on treble clef). It would be nice to also do the reverse for notes that are below middle C but are being played by the right hand.

Thanks for any input.

Regards,
Lance

I agree, I can't find a simple way to move notes from one clave to another without having to copy delete and paste, witch could be tiresome if it's a lot editing to do.

I think this makes sense, using step input you're able to adress notes below and over middle C to any clef (just click on bass clef and all you play will appear in the bass clef, the same goes for the treble clef)
That way you will have full control of your input
and realtime recording is working fine, splitting at middle C so you don't end up having all played notes in only one clef.

Thanks for the input.

I see how entering each clef can be useful in step record. However, I still seem to have a problem.

Step Record: Choose bass clef, enter note. Green band advances to the next beat. Using arrow click in treble clef above bass clef note(s) and play right hand. Notes are properly placed in the treble clef. Green band advances to next beat. All is well for the first beat.

Now anything I enter stays in the treble clef, moves back to and overwrites the first beat, or moves to the next measure. I cannot position the cursor on the next beat of the measure and the bass clef.

Even if I play the next beat in the treble clef I still cannot get back to that same beat of the measure to play the bass clef.

So, what am I missing please?

Best regards,
Lance

You say arrow click, I'm not able to use the arrows to change clef, I use the left mouse button to change clef and position in time.

Is this using arrows? As I said I'm not able to move in any direction using arrows, but with the mouse there is no problems here, changing clef and place in time, I'm able to place the cursor and start new input at the beginning of a new bar or at the latest inserted note, even if it's not at the first beat.

I am using the latest build .250 on a mac computer.
