(STILL) Can't connect to Update Server

Hello...
Another part of my introduction to N4...

Downloaded it and went to check if an update was available.
"Can't connect to the update server (-1)" or something like that.

This is NOT my problem. EVERY other piece of software I own updates flawlessly and I can connect to EVERY necessary update server except this one.

What say, someone??

Doing a bit of guessing and dot connecting, the relevant bit of information is that last weekend everything moved to a new server as part of integrating Notion Music into the PreSonus family, so my advice is to wait a bit and to try it again . . .

However, there is another option, which is to visit the Downloads page at the Notion Music website, where you can download the current version of NOTION 4, which is available in Mac and Windows versions . . .

Downloads (Notion Music)

THOUGHTS

Doing an automated update probably is better, but you can do it via downloading the current version and simply running the installation program for NOTION 4 . . .

I do not think you do want to uninstall NOTION 4, since uninstalling it might affect the number of licenses you have used. If this happens, Notion Music customer support can restore your licenses, so there is no concern about actually losing anything, but it requires a call or email . . .

Nevertheless, before doing anything check the currently installed version number of NOTION 4 on your computer, and if it is "4.0.329", then you have the latest version and do not need to do an update . . .

If the version number begins with a "5", then (a) your time machine is working and (b) I would really like to know the price of Apple stock and some Powerball numbers . . .

Lots of FUN! :)

Still getting same error on N3 AND N4.
Come to think of it, I may well have posted about this some time ago WRT N3

NO other online update does this for me...just N3 and N4.

I can update sounds without problems.

You can always just manually download the update from the Main Notion site (under Support/Downloads).

I know I can nab it manually.
It just piques my intellectual curiosity why Notion
is the only program that I can't update online.
I am a college professor--intellectual curiosity is my curse. :ugeek:

Have you tried to (temporarily) disable the firewall?

No, and I shouldn't have to.

The number of programs I CAN update onlline without incident is in the low 30s.
The number of programs I CAN'T update online without incident is one. :ugeek:

I'll just get it via the website, but it is a welcome convenience to hit "check for updates" and have the update download.
As I say, NBD...it was just the ol' "intellectual curiosity" bug what done bit me.

Thanks to all for the suggestions.
Jim

Jim;

I saw some recent problems that were related to the move to the new server, but they appear to be resolved now. This sounds as if it may be something specific to your setup. I have no idea what it is, but unless more users report the problem, I doubt Notion/Presonus will be able to do anything about it.
