Nothing weird about it . . .
It's sequencer format (a.k.a., "piano roll" format) . . .
[NOTE: The term "piano roll" comes from the way mechanical pianos (a.k.a., "player piano", "pianola", "autopiano", "reproducing piano", and so forth) were instructed to play songs many years ago by rolls of thick paper into which rectangular "holes" were punched to represent notes. They were "mechanical", because there were no computers in those days. Conceptually, it is similar to the way a "music box" works, except that music boxes typically have platters or cylinders with raised metal bits that pluck metal tines which are tuned to various pitches. When I first started doing computer programming, the programs were punched on stiff pieces of paper called "computer cards", and an iPhone would have been as big as a Walmart Supercenter, if there had been iPhones. The computer cards allowed up to 80 characters, hence were approximately half of a tweet . . . ]

Aeolian piano roll performed by I.J Paderewski. Polish Music Center Collection.

Look on the NOTION 4 "Tools" menu, and you will find a "Convert To Notation" menu item . . .
This is how you convert it from sequencer format to music notation . . .
(1) Click on the staff with the "piano roll" horizontal bars . . .
(2) Click on the "Tools" menu and then click on the "Convert To Notation" menu item . . .
This will cause the "piano roll" horizontal bars to be converted to music notation, where you then will see notes and rests . . .
Lots of FUN!
