thank you
but im still struggling to get it work

i read the Custom Rules Instructions.pdf
so i created a 'Test' folder and a sub-folder 'rules' inside it
i put Kontakt.prules.inside : Test>Rules
while the Notion score inside Test

The files I send uses cc1 (Mod Wheel) to control volume. If your library responds to cc11 it will need to change to that.

The line in the prules file that sets which controller controls hairpins is:

<hairpin-cc value="1" />

1=Mod Wheel. 11=Expression. Those would be the most common. You have to look at the way the instrument is setup in Kontakt to know what to use.

For that rules file, I have also found that for most Kontakt instruments, you can use CC 7. That seems to control the master volume for an NKI which comes in handy when there is no velocity cross fading. Although, it is up to your own discretion, as sometimes it is not the best option.

Kontakt doesn't really tell us much, as things can be setup many different ways. You've never told us which library/instrument you're working with...

yup...because i tested with various libraries
kontakt libraries from bolder sounds, best service
and some akai libraries
none of them work

so i dont think its the problem of library itself
should be either kontakt or notion or else...

The only thing I could think of is that maybe you are switching MIDI channels, because there is a known bug in Notion where CC data that changes volume/expression/etc. throughout a long note does not get sent to a different channel after being switched by the custom rules. But if you are using the .prules file Bill posted earlier in this thread without modification, it doesn't switch channels so that shouldn't be the issue.

How have you set up your MIDI channels in these Kontakt instruments? I am especially surprised CC#7 did nothing; although the way CC#1 and CC#11 work will typically be instrument-dependent, volume should change according to CC#7 in Kontakt regardless of what instrument is loaded or how that instrument is set up.

Is the volume/expression/velocity changing properly from one note to the next, even if it is not working over long notes?

One way to make sure you have set up the custom rules file properly is to add this rule to it (anywhere in the middle, for example right after "<!-- Techniques -->":

Code: Select all
<rule name="change pitch">
   <fixed-pitch pitch="C4" />
</rule>

If every note is changed to C4 when you play the score, you'll know that the custom rules file is at least being processed. If it isn't doing that, then the problem is that you haven't set up the custom rules file in the right place or called it properly in the score, or you've "broken" the .prules file by changing something within it.

probably i messed up something (?) (if so, plz forgive me )
but it doesnt matter now

using hairpin happily
sincere thanks to you guys ALL

and plz allow me to introduce a new question here

how to assign 'all note off' in a particular track at a particular point?
