Does anyone know how to "unassign" a staff from an instrument?
I've assigned a staff to a particular VST instrument. I choose instead to assign that staff to play on a channel in a Vienna Ensemble instrument. Is there any way to then go back and "unassign" that from the original instrument? There seems to be no choice for "none" or no sound.
I don't want to delete the staff, just remove it's assignment.

I think I need more information on this issue. What are you trying to accomplish by doing this? Is there music on the staff and that is why you don't want to delete it?
This is sort of unnecessary as far as I can tell. You are wanting to switch it over to something else, other than the VST you have it assiged too. You can always add an instrument change to the staff somewhere in the staff, which then resets where the staff will point to.
I need to know the end goal, because I cannot make sense of why this would ever be necessary to do.

IdiotSavant,
Just have a look here :

I figure that this is what you want to achieve !
Your music Staff would be a basic staff.
You may assign the VST you want anywhere.... anytime !
You must understand...
Hope to help
Alain

Re: "Unassigning" Staffs
Soul and Migot, thanks, you nailed it. I change the assignment to a basic staff, and the instrument assignment is reset.
