Two serious problems with 4.0.329 x64

Hardware: Acer V5 laptop, 8G RAM, 1T HDD, Windows 7 SP1 64 bit, Core-i7
Audio interface: Scarlett 6i6, running latest driver and firmware updates.
I am new to Notion, having picked up a copy recently on sale. I am having a bunch of issues and wondered if anyone else is experiencing anything similar.
The above setup is already running Reaper flawlessly and can record audio and MIDI, and playback, with latencies set to 3-4ms or even less. It has been running stably for well over a year and I have never had any issues. It also runs Kontakt stand-alone without any problems at very low latencies.
However Notion is another matter entirely. These are the two key problems I have:-
1. Serious and random latency issues recording from a MIDI keyboard. Chords can often end up with one or more notes playing up to half a second late during recording. It doesn't appear to matter whether the MIDI events come from the Scarlett interface or another MIDI interface (I have two Roland UM-2 USB interfaces plus a Behringer BCR2000, none of which have problems with any other application). I think the issue is a playback one because when the recorded events are played back, they play correctly in time.
2. Any of the demo Notion scores will crash Notion within a few seconds when played back. The error reported is an appcrash against notion.exe with an addressing exception (c0000005). However this problem does not appear to occur if I switch audio to the default laptop speakers. I appreciate this looks like an issue with the Scarlett interface but recall that this operates flawlessly with every other piece of software I have on the laptop. I would also note that if I switch to ASIO4ALL instead of the Scarlett USB driver, I still see the same problem.
I have logged an email with Notion support a couple of weeks back but have not received a reply. Is this normal?. Perhaps I should resubmit the issue. Has anyone else had these kind of issues?. It would be good to resolve them because currently I am reduced to recording MIDI in Reaper and then exporting it into Notion.
PS: is there any way to alter the metronome volume in Notion?. I could not find a way of doing this.
