It is clear that Notion 3 is a work in progress. There are many features that are still missing with compared to Sibelius, however, it is also clear that the Notion 3 team has a brilliant new way of addressing things that make this app fell much more fluid and the user experience is over all enjoyable. It feels like writing music on paper, and that's what I was looking for.
Now onto my question and my complaint
1) I can not figure out how to manually move staffs in order to change spacing between them, to accommodate extra ledger lines or articulations. I know how to re-order the staffs, but not how to change the spacing.
Now a bug:
After working for a while on Notion SLE (with VSL) I left it running for about 1 hour while I was doing other things on my other computer. Eventually it just crashed. I tried this again and it kept happening ! any ideas, or anyone else experienced this?
I look forward to the day when I can abandon Sibelius completely, that day feels close, but not just yet. For now I use Notion as the main tool, then bring in scores into sibelius for touch up.
cheers and thanks for the great product and your amazing supportive attitudes.
David

Re: Moving staff and strange bug
Thanks David,
As of now, we have no way of adjusting the space between systems. Rest assured we have it in the plan down the road. With NOTION3 we focused on playback and performance as well as DAW and studio compatibility, so a lot of the more 'engraving' features were left for post-release updates. That being said we are doing those quite frequently as you may have noticed.
The crash that you are experiencing is unknown to me. I use N3 and SLE almost throughout the entire day and haven't seen it just crash without activity. I wonder if there is something mroe specific to your system. What is your OS/drivers/audio interface etc? Do you have any other programs running in the background? Do you get a crash report after the crash ?
Thanks

Re: Moving staff and strange bug
Hey,
thanks for your quick reply, and also the videos are awesome, can't wait for the advanced ones about custom keyswitches etc...
anyway, on to my bug
I use Mac Pro Dual quad (2008 model) with 10 GB RAM
os x 10.6.2
Motu Travelar with latest drivers (It has been a rock solid interface and drivers for me for 3 years)
there is nothing else running in the back ground.
The VEPRO windows are open so that I can see the mix and adjust my panning and reverb sends.
This doesn't happen with anything less, and leads me to believe that there may be a memory leak ! but that's pure speculation. I can double check that next time I use it by monitoring the RAM usage over time.
There is an error report and I have submitted it.
Thanks again, I'm glad to be part of this community and to help Notion 3 grow.
David
p.s: is there anyway to get a sample of orchestral set up in VEPRO that has the correct panning of instruments and reverb sends? this could be just a screen capture from one of your sessions, cause they sound fantastic....
