EWQL crescendi

Hi everybody

May be am I asking an old solved question so please apologize if I didn't find the answer searching the forum.

A crescendo on a single note (let's say a whole note for a horn) doesn't work with EWQL...

(but it does with VSL)

Of course I love VSL but I plan a lot of things to do with EWQL so...

I've had the same problem. I prefer the sound of EWQL to VSL SE, but I own both. Crescendos on held notes don't seem to work at all, even though EWQL has crossfade instruments to do such, etc. I'm hoping the new update to Notion will add to the usability of integration with EWQL.

Oh yes... It would be fantastic...
I'm reaching a point where I'm no more using EWQL only because of that problem :(
Do you know when Notion guys are planning to support these crescendi on a single note with EWQL ?
(of course if a member of the Notion team could answer, it would be quite nice, you're welcome !)
(BTW which the planned date for the next update ?)

I don't know anything about EWQL, does it use different MIDI channels for different articulations or instruments?

If so, that's the root of the problem. Notion currently only sends MIDI controller changes for hairpin crescendos and decrescendos on Channel #1, even when it is redirecting notes to other channels based on the plugin rules. I'm almost positive there was a thread not too long ago where the Admin acknowledged this problem and said they are working on addressing it, which was a pleasant surprise because I've been complaining about it since Notion 3, but technical support repeatedly brushed me off. However, I can't seem to find the thread anymore.

It doesn't work using the lite patches, which are keyswitched and use channel 1. The EWQL rules specify CC11 for hairpins. Play responds to CC11 in standalone mode, in Finale and everything else I've tried. Not sure what the issue is...

The issue is a combination of how Notion uses (or doesn't use) crossfade patches and the fact that only channel 1 gets true CC data. Keyswitch patches don't use crossfade AFAIK.

I would gladly write custom rules for EWQLSO that resolves this issue, but every time I try, the channel 1 limitation causes me to stop and bang my head on my keyboard.

That's correct, Keyswitch patches don't use crossfade, but should still respond to CC11 for crescendo/decrescendo.
