Is it possible to create indicators for a modulation in meter? For example when changing from 4/4 to 12/8, either the quarter note time values remain the same (quarter = quarter), or the beat is now subdivided into 3 (quarter = dotted quarter). I suppose I could simply add a text box with a music font, but it would be ideal if the sequencer would respond to the actual metric transition.
Many thanks,
KS

Re: Metric Modulation
In the metronome marking for your score, if you want to have dotted quarters representing the beat, double click the metronome marking and replace the [q=?] with [qd=?]. All of the Notion shortcuts for note durations will work in the Metronome Markings.

Re: Metric Modulation
Thanks for the advice, this is a useful workaround. Not exactly what I had in mind though, an actual metric modulation would be really useful as a new feature since it doesn't appear to be possible. It would let you do things like change from straight eights to swing eights and other fun things. It's not a really esoteric technique, you can find it in Brahms, Liszt, and Debussy.

Re: Metric Modulation
Notion 4 has the capability of performing these changes.
1. Swing is available. Use "Shift + G" to access 4 different Swing Modes. To access each one, hold "Shift" and toggle the letter "G".
2. Ritards and Accelerandos can be added to modulate from one tempo to the next. To access Rit/Accel, toggle the letter "r".
3. NTempo - you can perform your scores in real time using an NTempo staff to map MIDI Triggers to a designated feel of a score.
4. NTempo Record allows you to record your tempo playback to the NTempo staff you have created. After adding in the subdivisions to an NTempo staff, you can record your tempo playback to that staff.
