Punch record

Hi All,

I'm pretty new to this program so I'm sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I was wondering if there was such a thing as punch record. I would like to replace 8 measures of one of the instruments with real time recording but I don't want to overwrite the following measure. If there is no punch record maybe someone could suggest another way of getting this done.

Thanks!

Hi frabato56,

One way to do this:
1. Create an empty duplicate of the staff you want to record onto, assigned to the same instrument.
2. Erase the 8 bars you don't like in the original staff — or set them to tacet if you want to see them, but not hear them.
3. Record live onto the 8-bar segment of the new, empty staff, until you get it right.
4. Copy and paste the completed segment into the original staff and erase the "scratch staff."

Best wishes,
Thorrild

Hi Thorrild,

Yes, that does the trick and it's really not much more work than setting in and out points for punch recording.

Thanks very much!

Good call. That is the tip I use too, Thorrild.
