How to make a realistic orchestra?

Yes that works, thanks.
I saw (if I am correct) that in the Notion 4 VSL presets there are 3 parameters that are influenced by CC11 slider on my masterkeyboard: Volume, Velxfade and Expression.
What I was wondering does the dynamics p and f still works when VelXfade is on?

Frieda, I think I've achieved some very realistic results, but like most artists (I believe), I'm never satisfied.

I've been doing just what you're thinking of, entering scores from other composers. It's a great way to try out Notion's capabilities and learn as well.

Give these a listen:

Hi Michael,

That's very nice and pretty realistic! Especially the Trio in B Flat Major from Franz Schubert.
What did you learn so far from doing this? Do you use dynamic markings or do you use the sequencer staffs for changing the expression data?

I cannot let you hear anything at the moment. Only maybe this little exercise I've made with a blowing French horn. Here I have used the sequencer staff for CC11 data.

Frieda, thanks. I use both dynamic markings and the sequencer staff with velocity overdub. It seems like a pretty effective combination. I generally find the VSL solo instruments to be more realistic than the orchestral sections, at least as far as strings go. There's something about the sections that are a bit off. It seems to have to do with the attack, there's sometimes a slight slowness in the attack in the sections that I don't care for. There may be some way to adjust that but I haven't found it yet. I've only been playing with Notion for about 6 months.

Absolutely agree. Being able to draw cc data directly in Notion would render my sequencer essentially useless. There should also be shortcuts to create sequencer staffs rapidly.
