dotted notes in tuplet?

Hello,
I was trying to copy wagner's vorspiel for Sigfried's act III when I realize that notion doesn't support dotted notes in tuplet. Is there any way for writing things like that?
I tried to use a 12/8 time signature for strings and a 4/4 for the winds but I think it doesn't work too.

Do you want something like this?

Yes

Why can't I write it? I used the tuplet tool and then I tried to add the dotted 8th but it seemed not to work. Is there another way?
Thanks

I submitted this problem when I was reviewing some beta builds, but there seems to be no action on the issue.

You can do this. Read the page 8.9 and 8.10 of the manual.

With all due respect pcartwright, RTFM is not help. It easy to miss an implied point in cryptic instructions.
And did you get that its not making tuplets which is the issue but making tuplets which contain dotted notes?

Is the example I gave in the second post on this thread not the very thing the OP wants? Option 2 on 8.10 is how I created my example. I can't explain the process any better than what was already done by Notion in the manual.

Well, it does not work for me. Here's what I do:
1. Draw the three notes
2. Highlight the three note
3. Press ALT + 3
What I get is the correct notes but 6 instead of 3 on the triplet group.
Care to help?

dshertz,
Did you ever see the movie "Jurassic Park?" In the beginning a kid disses raptors as "overgrown turkeys." Alan Grant uses a raptor's 6-inch claw to show the kid how the creature would disembowel him and then eat him alive. His final comment in the exercise was, "So try to show him a little respect."
pccartwright is one of the most knowledgable, patient, helpful guys you will ever find, and a fixture in the Notion forum. By responding to his attempt to help with a disrespectful attitude, you are hardly endearing yourself to the community you are hoping will provide you with the help you want. But the kind of guy pcc is, he'll probably just overlook it and help you anyway. But try to show a little respect.

Try this:
1. Type E, then Alt + 3. (The cursor should now look like e3)
2. Type D. (If you want the first note to be dotted)
3. Click in the staff where you want the first note.
4. Type S (For sixteenth note) and click to enter it in the staff.
5. Type E and enter the last eighth of the triplet.
Best wishes,
Thorrild
