More score problems 3

Isn't there any way to get three measures on the last page moved to the previous page?

It looks redicilous to have just three measures on a page. Changing notation size, staff spacing, etc. doesn't help.

Hi mrarnesen,

Maybe you'll be more pleased with the layout if you think of it the other way around: Instead of trying to fit more music onto one system than Notion's horizontal spacing algorithms allow, take a look at the pages leading up to the "ugly" page: If, for instance, each of the 2 pages before the 3-bar page has 6 bars per system, then adjust them so that they have only 5 bars per system. That way you'll end up with the last three pages evenly spaced, and with 5 bars on each.

Let me know if you don't know how to do this, and I'll be happy to write up instructions or refer you to a page number in the User Guide.

Best wishes,
Thorrild

Thanks, but I've tried to adjust measures per system but still doesn't work. Even if I've set the measures per system to be 5, a lot of the systems still has 3 or 4 measures.

I think the only solution will be to save the score as an xml file and finish the score in Sibelius.

No, you need to adjust only some systems, not all of them. In my example from before, select the last bar of a 6-bar page and right-click on it. Select the bottom item, Measure [x]. From the sub-menu, select "Force new system." Then that bar will move from the 6-bar page to the following page. Continue until you are statisfied with the layout.

Best,
Thorrild

As this problem is in a dynamic part I can't use any of the options in the Measure [x] sub-menu, as it will change all parts.

Hi mrarnesen,

I know there are problems with the way dynamic parts are working, and we have complained and discussed it at length in this forum; hopefully a fix is moving toward the top of the to-do list at Notion.

So, right now, your work-around is to do one part at a time. Select the first part and get the layout the way you want it, and disregard the problem that your layout choices will affect the other parts as well. When it looks right, then print it out. Revert the file to its original state and do the same for each of the remaining parts.

If you need to go back to a part once you have printed it, and have your layout preserved, you need to save a copy of your score for each dynamic part, each with its own layout. I know it's a mess, but now that you've done all the work on your score, it is probably a less painful solution than having to do it over in Finale or Sibelius.

Best of luck,
Thorrild

You need to change the paper size.

Go to:

Score>Full Score Options and use the layout tools. If you adjust the paper size, the measures can fit. There are many page size options there and you can view your print preview in Notion.

Adjust measures per line and play around with all of the layout functions in Notion to acheive your desired results.

Thanks, but it doesn't help. I've tried a3 paper size, adjusting to notation size, measures per system. Still won't work.

It's similar with the problems I've showed in these examples: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3140
