"Paste Insert" Command Gone Missing...?

Postby BrundleFly » Tue Nov 27, 2012 8:11 pm

The N4 User Guide says there is a "Paste Insert" command in the context menu that will blend new material with existing material. I'm not getting that option, only plain vanilla "Paste" that over-writes existing material.

Am I missing something or is Notion?

Doh! Read twice, click once. It's Edit > Paste Insert. Thought I had tried all the expansions.

Hmmm... still not getting what I want. Apparently this is like inserting text; it moves the existing material later, rather than blending old and new.

Coming from SONARland, the logic of this app is a little befuddling. I can't paste something and have it just drop in on top of what's already there?

Then you simple Paste. Insert mean just that; it moves everything over.

The problem is that regular paste replaces existing material. So you have a choice of replacing or displacing, but not blending/merging. I worked around it by merging the two parts together in SONAR before importing the MIDI file to Notion.
