As mentioned in another post, you need to have some sort of bridging software (like JBridge) to open up additional memory on a 64bit system. Other than that, the hardware requirements are probably the same as specified by eastwest.

Well, I use JBridge with an I7 and 8Go of ram. I tried to load a "full orchestra" template in Notion, but I run out of memory...
(I think that the problem is that Notion tries to load everything - all instruments and articulations, about 30Go - into the ram)

That's not the way it works. Notion simply opens Play, and Play loads the instruments. I don't think there's a way that Notion could (even if it wanted to) load extra sounds into RAM beyond what Play would allow.

It sounds to me like you aren't fully optimizing your 8GB of RAM. Try loading the same patches in Reaper and see if you have RAM limitations there as well. I typically load one instrument of EWQL to each group (that is, I have one EWQL flute, oboe, horn, etc) and fill in the other parts with GPO or Notion instruments. This pushes me close to full RAM capacity, but I can do it with 8GB.

under Reaper, I can load each instrument of a full romantic symphonic orchestra (but, of course, I just load one or two aticulations per instrument)

Well there's your problem. You can set up Notion to load the articulations you use (and nothing else), but you should be forewarned that it can be time consuming to adjust the presets and it may cause issues with playback of articulations that you removed.

With this said, you should be able to build an orchestra preset with the articulations you want (and thus be able to load more instruments into your system).

yes :(

You can set up Notion to load the articulations you use (and nothing else),

could you tell me where is is explained how to do this ?

In windows, you go to Program Files (x)86 -> Notion 3 -> Support -> Plugin Data -> EWQL and you'll see a list of Notion files. These are the default instruments. Simply open a file in Notion, make the adjustments you prefer in the plugin (Play in this case) and save.

I would make a back up copy of the EWQL folder before you make any adjustments.

Right, I'm having absolutely NO joy with EWQLSO Gold PLAY here.

I installed it yesterday, activated it, and it works fine with Cubase, Reaper etc.

In Notion, I get the dreaded "sample not found" error, click "Find Sample" and head for the root directory, which is something like D:\EWQLSO Library\ and this contains 3 folders, "Gold Instruments", "Gold Samples", "Silver Samples".

No combination of either this root folder, or any within succeeds in the samples being loaded. I get the instrument loaded but with no samples mapped.

I bought the PLAY edition because I thought this would be 'easier'... aye, you live, you learn... :|

update

Okay, I selected "Violins II lite". I get the sample pop-up box. After a lot of trial and error I point it to:
D:\EWQL Orchestra Library\Gold Samples\Gold Strings
and suddenly it starts finding samples. Then... it wants to go here:
D:\EWQL Orchestra Library\Silver Samples\Silver Strings
a few samples later it wants to go back to...
D:\EWQL Orchestra Library\Gold Samples\Gold Strings
then
D:\EWQL Orchestra Library\Silver Samples\Silver Strings
D:\EWQL Orchestra Library\Gold Samples\Gold Strings
D:\EWQL Orchestra Library\Silver Samples\Silver Strings
D:\EWQL Orchestra Library\Gold Samples\Gold Strings
D:\EWQL Orchestra Library\Silver Samples\Silver Strings
D:\EWQL Orchestra Library\Gold Samples\Gold Strings
etc...
etc...

I really don't have time for this.

Back into the box you go... into the cupboard of shame... (and I'm not talking about EWQL here)
