Waiting for good-o!

I have downloaded the demo version and enough beautiful LSO samples to recreate be able to recreate a score only semi-successfully completed in other software. The playback (sonic) results so far have been so superior in sound as to cause me to drive to the nearest retailer and plonk down a deposit. So within a very few days I will have full control. In the meantime I do not know how my violins are going to sound since the program asks for Violin 1 and Violin 2 and the only section sample available is called Violin which it does not recognise.
How can I circumvent this lack and get my upper strings, just to tide me over for the next few days? I actually have some spare time and would like to make use of it!*
Monty.
*understandable, perhaps, since I am 89.

Hi Monty and welcome to Notion: can we say "It's never too late"?
Anyway, to my knowledge there's only a Violin Section sample available in Notion, but you can play with pan, volume and reverb settings and use an external Equalizer plug-in to tweak the sound of the 2nd violins staff to make it different from 1st's.
Other libraries, like Garritan Personal Orchestra have different samples for First and Seconds violins.
Hope it helps.
Best regards

Thanks for your replies.
Delivery of the full version was swift. I collected it at the music shop just before closing time on Friday. All instruments are available and sound splendid.
Good point about the different players available in Garritan PO, which I have. I have always been concerned about using the same instrument twice, suspecting that a unison note following harmony will cause one instrument to disappear!
Lots for me to learn still from the on-line manual. Such as where does it reside? ... so I can transfer it to my iPad and study anywhere.
I'd be grateful for the information.
Thanks
Monty.

Thanks, Fabio.
I have not only done that but to my joy discovered that that I
CAN transfer to my iPad. Previous PDFs were hiding in Collections and I was only looking in Books.
The expensive toy is finally going to be of some use to me!
Monty.

Hi!
It is really time the thread under this name was closed. I think I have worn out my facile little pun ripping off Samuel Beckett.
Thanks to the camaraderie displayed, I shall no doubt return — same ID, different theme.
But I think it's worth mentioning here that in the intervening week or so, I have re-mixed all four movements of what, in sheer chutzpah, I call my symphony. Because for the first time I can actually hear all the detail.
After being unable to find an oboe d'amore among the Notion woodwinds, it was a relief to find that I could still import that voice from GPO. And he seemed perfectly happy to join the LSO.
However, if anyone can point me to where I can find out how to enable Garritan Jazz & Big Band, and also whether I can combine in one score classical, jazz and "ethnic" instruments, I will be very grateful. For instance, one of my previous pieces— it's a sort of Bavarian polka—has trumpet, clarinet, tuba, percussion and piano accordion; plus full strings. Quite a mixed bag.
Cheers
Monty

Hi Monty.
Happy to hear you're enjoying a second youth with Notion and your music.
Sadly there's no preset available for Garritan JABB, but to to my knowledge pcartwright, a Notion power user and master in rule writing, has worked out a set of commands for this library.
Hope he will look at this post
I will contact him and let you know how to get in touch to each other.
Have a nice day

You are so kind, Fabio, I can readily forgive you for your resemblance to Basil Fawlty.
I would also like to pass a vote of thanks to the NOTION "Board of Management" for automatically alerting me when a message is posted. It really adds an official note of welcome and promotes a sense of community.
"Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship".
