Delete all notes without deleting instrument settings

Hi all, I have a problem, not crucial, but rather a nuiance. I have a template setup with external midi connected. When I select all the notes in a part and hit delete, it will also delete the instrument information and then I need to reassign the external midi channel again. I can work around this by selecting all the notes except the first note, delete all the note and the select the first note individually and delete it.

So the question is, is there other clever way to do it. There is a delete special option in the right click menu, but I don't see any similar option...
