Well, it can be done on an iPhone at least! I got inspired by that video you posted and found an app called ShakeMIDI. Doesn't cost much. Download it, setup coremidi according to the instructions on their site, make sure the app sends to the correct midi channel (same as setup in Notion for nTempo). Also notice that in Notion the conducting notes are C4 -> but in ShakeMIDI (for some reason) you have to make it send C3. All you have to do is setup all the rows in ShakeMIDI to send same note (C3). Then just adjust the sensitivity in the ShakeMIDI settings and go for it. It takes probably some adjusting to your conducting technique, but is doable.

I have been using Notion to backup a live band in concerts for a few years. I place my laptop on the conductors stand, tap the keyboard with my left hand and move the baton with the right hand: the experience is tricky and nerve wrecking to say the least.

This would be cool. But meanwhile, it's already possible with iPhone if you've got one. And costs only a few bucks.

A friend of mine who knows a lot more about computers than me, is trying to link the wii controller directly to the laptop’s keyboard. Meanwhile, I did some research and found a number of mini Bluetooth keyboards that could be another alternative:

Any hope for a Notion Wireless-Baton in a near future?

Notion Wireless Baton is actually a very cool idea and I would buy it immediately. Like if they really made it as small as a real baton.
