I just stumbled upon another curious thing.
I am refining my workflow now. I am pretty exited as it seems to work out very well so far. I will later on post all details for those who are interested. Basically it comes down to the following:
I am using Sonar 8.5, Notion, Vocaloid 1 (Miriam plus Leon) and Vocaloid 2 (Prima) to score a movie. Sonar acts as the central nervous system and everything is rewired from Sonar where all audio FX are added and later on I will record the guitars and extra synths in Sonar. In the end I plan on using Sonar for the final mix down and export the movie with the soundtrack.
OK, at this stage I am still working it all out while I am writing a jingle for a very short movie. If it works out fine this basic work method will be used when I work on feature films. I think that the Sonar and Notion combination is going to be a winner for me if I can get all the small hick-ups settled.
Enough said about my plans and what I am doing. Here is a curious thing I came accross. To make the workflow work (he, he) I need to write the score and vocal parts in Notion and then export to midi to be able to import the midi files into Vocaloid 1 & 2, where I will render the vocals. Unfortunately it does not seem like Notion's export to midi works while in rewire mode. To export the midi file I have to close down everything, re-open Notion in normal mode with my score and then export to midi and close down Notion again before I restart Sonar and everything else in rewire mode again.
This is not a show stopper as the workaround works (pun intended) but it is an irritation none the less.

Re: Export to midi while in rewire mode
Hey sepheritoh,
Great to hear you are excited and you're starting to establish a workflow.
Here's an idea I just had reading your post, I'm not really sure it will work, but its worth a try.
Try writing the stuff for Vocaloid in NOTION but on a MIDI out staff that sends the MIDI data directly to Vocaloid. This may help you get the whole thing going as one (which I can see being quite exciting). To enter a MIDI out staff, first make sure you have configured your MIDI out ports in NOTION Preferences - MIDI correctly (you'll probably want some kind of internal midi cable like LoopBe MIDI or MIDI yoke) and then make sure Vocaloid listens to that device.
It may work! I know ReWire has some restrictions when it comes to MIDI out though - for example Ableton Live! wouldn't send MIDI out when ReWired.
