New to Notion: Midi control how to?

Hello everyone,
I'm tryin' the Notion demo. So far, so good. I took my old Gigastudiofile Vsl, converted them to Kontakt Format ( as I don't want to use Gigastudio anymore), set up up staffs, midi channels. However, I can't put program changes, control changes, etc... on my staffs. The Kontakt presets I did are bank containing instruments with different articulations. I also set them so control changes can do things like add release samples, trigger legato, etc...
Am I missing something? Apparently SequencerStaff handles all these things, but it's not explained. I really would like it to work (obviously). Thanks in advance
Eric

Hi Eric,
Nice to hear from another (ex) Gigastudio user!
You'll be better off converting to keyswitches. Bank/Patch changes are less and less suported.

HI, thanks for the answer!
HOwever, I'd like a few details, if you don't mind...Bank/Patch changes are less and less suported. First, I see no reason for this at all, program and control changes are, after note on/off of course, the most used midi messages. But what you say is very intriguing.. Does it mean it's possible now but will not be in the future? I don't understand why Notion would give its users the trouble to deal with midi things without p.g./c.c. Anyway, if it's possible to use them now i'd like to know how.
Thanks in advance
Eric

Keyswitches (or dimension controllers in GS speak) are what most libraries and sample players use now. Kontakt it one of the few players that still even supports Bank/Patch messages. At this point the Notion XML used for creating playback rules does NOT support that, and questions in this regard have gone unanswered here on the forum.
So, if you want to use Kontakt, you need to reprogram all the VSL stuff to use keyswitchs. Or switch to Finale.

Thanks again for your prompt answer. How are we gonna do without the benefit of p.c. and c.c.? Why should it be banned since it's so powerful and simple? If you have any info about it, feel free to tell it to me because it makes me very curious!
Fortunately we have demo versions to test products... I'm not gonna redo my patches because what I'm tryin' to do is:
Write with notation software.
Add articulation change (with p.c.!) so I can hear pizz. when I need to.
Export the tracks to Reaper and start mixing etc..
I'll still check the Rewire chapter of the manual to see If could find a solution.
Anyway, thanks again for your help! Have a nice day
Eric

As I said, keyswitches are used now instead of Program Changes. CCs are still available.

Okay, we got something here..., please: how do I insert cc on the staff? I could certainly be fine with keyswitches and cc.
Thanks

I sugest looking at all the tutorials here:
http://www.notionmusic.com/support/tutorials.htmlBut really, the short answer is that the ways of doing it are convoluted and inconvenient. If your plan is to use VSL libraries in Kontakt, Notion probably won’t be a good fit, unless you’re willing to program your own custom rules.
Notion works best with the libraries it’s setup to use right out of the box.
