Score Structure questions

Postby 88fingers » Thu Sep 24, 2009 11:08 am

Hello,

I'm strongly considering N3. However, there are a few important things I need to know that relate directly to score formatting:

Can N3 lock systems, pages and the like? Is so, are these settings visually indicated on the score (icons and such)? I've read part of the N3 help PDF: Are "link measures" the equivalent of this feature?

If the above is possible, here's a follow-up question: Assume I have a score made for 4 instruments and that I need to show/hide staves according to what instrument is playing on a per system basis. If I lock a system down (let's say it's been set to have 4 measures and show only two staves), will this setting remain so if I edit other surrounding systems (say, by adding or removing measures, systems or pages of music)?

Another unrelated question: Can I record drum notation in real time? If so, can N3 optionally separate the notes into individual voices automatically (ex: hats on one voice and bass drum and snare on another).

Thanks for your time

You can show/hide systems but I don't believe you can "lock" them.

As far as drum notation...you can use a midi device to record into N3, but it will not separate the instruments to voices automatically.

Hope this helps!

Pity...I couldn't work without this feature.

Thanks for your reply
