Need Serious Help!!

Postby JonDo » Sun Sep 05, 2010 7:32 pm

Well I Am Fairly New To The Notion Program, Let Alone Notion 3
I Had Trouble Hooking Up An MIDI Cable To Notion For The Sequencer Staff And May Have Changed Some Settings On Accident
Once I Had Successfully Hooked The MIDI And Played On The Sequencer Staff For Te First Time, I Tried Playing It Back..
And There Was No Sound Coming Out Of It At All
Even When I Try Simple Notation With Out The Sequencer Staff I Get Silence
The Speakers On My Computer Work Fine
I Tried Reinstalling Notion
But I Ended Up With The Same Result
I Have A Laptop
The MIDI Cord IsA Hosa Technology TrackLink MIDI To USB Interface

If Maybe Someone Could Send Me The Default Settings To Notion 3
Or Maybe Someone Can Tell Me What I Possibly Did Wrong
I Would Really Appreciate It
Spending $250+ For It... I Intend To Have Notion 3 Working :|

I'm going to assume you're using your laptop's internal soundcard...here's a couple of things to check:
Make sure your midi interface is plugged in. Open notion. go to File (in the top left corner), and select preferences.
In the preferences window, select the audio tab. select the "default" radio button, and "windows default" should show up in the list to the right. click okay.
go back to File/preferences, and in that window, select the MIDI tab. make sure your midi interface is selected in the first pulldown (input device). also make sure the second pulldown (input type) says MIDI keyboard. click okay.

close notion, and open it again.
when notion opens, it'll put up a window with templates, and usually the demo projects to select from. i'd suggest opening one of the demo projects. when the project opens, hit play. do you hear sound? does the playback cursor move? both should be happening. hit stop.
select any instrument in the score, simply by clicking its staff. if you play notes on your keyboard, you should hear that instrument play.
