I somehow had it my mind that Notion could be activated on two systems at the same time, but now find that it doesn’t seem to be the case. I’m prepping a laptop to take on vacation next month; will I need to de-activate the copy on my main system?

You do have the ability to activate N3 on two systems. Not sure why you're having issues.....
