Example:

1. Record a performance playing keyboard (or import a MIDI file)
2. Some notes that your left hand played may end up on the treble clef rather than bass clef or vice versa

There's no easy way to set the split point for a given measure or set of notes after a performance has been recorded. How many piano pieces are there where the split point never changes?

That said, I still need the sustain pedal to work and that hasn't happened yet either...

Not to mention the cross staff beaming...

It really seems like there's some essential features missing for keyboard players. No big deal I guess, how many keyboard players can their possibly be in the world. Oh, wait...

The grand staff split point feature is in Notion 4.0.324, which is the latest Release Update. You can use it by changing the Split Point in the MIDI Record dropdown at the moment when you instigate MIDI Record Mode.

Cross staff beaming is not there yet...

Thanks for the reply, but that's not at all what I was asking for. I'm aware of the existing Split feature (it's been there for years). What that feature does NOT do, is account for the fact that SPLIT POINTS CHANGE, often from measure to measure.

I need to be able to record a single live performance in Notion, and adjust the split points as needed from measure to measure (because again they change). I can't do this with the existing functionality.

Instead, I'd have to break the performance up into multiple takes. Or record the right and left hands separately. Neither of which are good workarounds.

The same limitation exists for recording a MIDI performance somewhere else, and importing the MIDI file into Notion for scoring. If you need to adjust the split points from measure to measure, there's no good way to do this.

Example:

1. I plan on recording a new performance

2. As played, the split point between the bass/treble clefs at measure 1 is middle C, for measure 2 it's the A below middle C, where it stays for 2 measures until it changes to the D above middle C for measure 4. Then at measure 5, everything moves up an octave.

3. There's currently no way that allows me to do this in a single take without doing major editing or recording multiple performance. If there is, I'm unaware and would certainly appreciate more detailed instructions.

What I want:

1. I record the performance using the default split point

2. After the recording, I right click on a staff, click Measure 2 and set the split point to the A below middle C.

Result: The split point for measure 2 changes automatically.

3. I repeat this for measure 3. For measure 4 I change it to the D4.

Result: the split point changes for that measure.

Maybe even two options: one to set the Split point at the current measure only. And one to set the split point for all measures going forward.

Good points.

I will submit a feature request.

Great!

FWIW, I'd really love to see you guys focussed on improving some core notation features in the coming releases. There's probably some low hanging fruit in terms of relatively small development efforts, that would have a big payoff in terms of customer satisfaction with Notion as well as attracting new customers. Things like sustain pedal support (which should be the highest priority IMO), followed by Cross Staff Beaming (also a high priority), and other things like configurable split points (a medium), or splitting multiple voices to separate staves (another medium).
