New EWQL problem I didn't have before

Hi Guys,

I noticed the same thing. The rules are originally designed to work with Platinum and in the past, the gold and silver editions didn't seem to have a problem. It appears that with the latest Play update that was released, browsing to the root directory of your sounds folder is not enough for Play to pick up the samples. I just noticed this as well over here at the office. Right now, you have to search your hard drive for each sample and load them individually. Either this or downgrade to an older version of Play. You may want to contact East West and ask them why they made this change. I'll see if there is anything that can be done on our end but I really think this is an issue with Play. What I have been doing is setting up one large score with most of the instruments that I use and saving it for use as a template. Whenever I start a new score, I just delete the instruments that I'm not going to be using.

Thanks a lot Brian, but the problem is that the instrument doesn't load at all in case of missing samples...
So what can I do in order to "normally" use my Gold instruments ?
Using the Lite patches is it the good solution ?
My problem is that I don't know how to compose "rules" from scratch in order to use EWQL.
I can add that the problem occurs ONLY with celli et double basses...
Whay do you advise me ?

Didn't want to start a new topic because my problem also concerns EWQLSO and I also get the error that the samples are not found. Same problem with the lite patches. But when I tell him where they are, he loads them but there is no sound. If I load EWQLSO as the "play" vst-plugin and load an instrument everything is fine..but then I don't have the rules from Notion. No idead what to do

So it seems to be a serious problem.
We are many to get exactly the same (and Brian has noticed it by himself).
In fact I have noticed that the problem occurs not only with celli & DB... but with all the instruments...
I'm not able to use Notion at this time as I can no more use EWQL and Notion articulations to compose...
As I'm a symphonic composer (like many here, I think !), it's a real disaster for me...
(I bought Notion only for the purpose of composing using EWQL)
I think the best solution is Notion to provide us valid rules for the Gold version (I can easily imagine that we are not very numerous here to own the platinum...)

I had the same problem : I use Gold too. I found a solution (which took me some time but works great).
When Notion3 downloads all the programs of an instrument, it looks in the folder : \ Library Platinum \ Platinum Samples \ Platinum Strings \ etc ... (or Platinum Winds, etc ...).
When installing, the Gold version of EWQL creates two folders: the Silver folder and the Gold folder. I merged the two directories by renaming them as desired Notion3 (as if I had the Platinum version).
All my strings are in the folder Platinum Strings, my wind instruments, in the folder Platinum Winds, etc ...

In short, Notion3 must think it runs a version of EWQL Platinum, so the folders must be renamed, and the two libraries should be merged.
I hope I was clear.

But, in fact, my problem seems not to be exactly the same (or may be I misunderstand something) : I do not have the files Notion is searching for (I didn't find them anywhere in my EWQL files...). I don't know what they are.
It it just one file in among all the files of an instrument. Notion finds all the others except of course this one. And finally, I get no sound at all for the instrument.
And, first of all, this problem is totally new and never occured before...
BTW, if you do this, Play doesn't loose its path when you load an instrument in the standalone version or from a daw ?

My EWQL Gold library is installed 2 times on my hard drive: in a Platinum folder and in a Gold + Silver folder. When I use the standalone version in Play or automatically Notion3, the instruments will download properly.

I use the last version of Notion3 and the last version of Play, but on Mac : that could explain the difference.

I'm going to try your solution but I will move the silver samples to the gold folder because I have no more room on my HD...
I just hope not to overwrite gold files with silver ones (I suppose they are different).

You just need to do this with samples, not instruments, right ?

In fact I don't understand who loads what...
Notion or Play ?
Who's searching the path ?

Yes, silver samples and gold samples are different, so you can't overwrite samples.

I think that it is Notion who loads because it is made to work with the Platinum version. If I use Play like a standalone, it uses the original folders (with the Silver one and the Gold one).

If you want to use Play like a standalone, and if you move your Silver samples to the Gold folder, I hope you will be able to use it (not sure that the change of folders is a good idea). It works for me because I kept the 2 folders (Platinum and Gold+Silver).

Do you use Play like a standalone ? Or do you use EWQLSO with Notion ?
